Camp Dates:
Sunday 12th September 2010: 10am to 10pm
Open trial, introductory training camp and talent identification. ALL ages and abilities welcome. A shortlisted group will be identified for the Monday and Tuesday training sessions.

Monday 13th September 2010: 6pm to 10pm
Tuesday 14th September 2010: 6pm to 10pm

On ice: 8pm to 10pm Sunday to Tuesday at Kallang Ice World

Camp will be conducted by renowned Canadian speed skating coach, Mr Yves Nadeau and his assistant.

No prior ability of any kind necessary.

Cost: Free to all participants. Skaters who wish to use their own short track speed skates must purchase their own skates. However, owning a pair of speed skaters is not a prerequisite to attend the camp. Ice hockey and figure skating skates or the rental skates at Kallang Ice World can be used for the on ice portion. For those who have not skated before but are inline skaters there will be a inline skating session/lesson as part of the talent identification process.

The Goal:
-To allow participants to try on ice short track speed skating.
-To identify the first batch of talented athletes that will represent Singapore in short track speed skating, with the ultimate goal of an athlete competing at the 2014 Winter Olympic Games.
-Identify 3 men, 3 ladies and 2 coaches to attend a partially sponsored intensive short track training camp in Changchun, China from 18-25th September 2010.

What is Speed Skating?
Speed skating is the fastest human powered, non-mechanical aided sport in the world. Timed to one-hundredth of a second, skaters attain speeds of over 60 kilometres per hour on a 400-meter oval ice rink.
In short track speed skating, skaters compete against each other instead of against the clock introducing elements of strategy, bravery and skill. Competing on a 112.2-meter oval ice rink, there are 4-6 skaters in a heat, with two skaters progressing to the next round until four skaters remain for the final.
