the talent identification process.

-To identify the first batch of talented athletes
that will represent Singapore in short track speed skating, with the ultimate
goal of an athlete competing at the 2014 Winter Olympic Games.
-Identify 3 men, 3 ladies and 2 coaches to attend
a partially sponsored intensive short track training camp in Changchun, China
from 18-25th September 2010.
What is Speed Skating?
Speed skating is the fastest human powered,
non-mechanical aided sport in the world. Timed to one-hundredth of a second,
skaters attain speeds of over 60 kilometres per hour on a 400-meter oval ice
rink.
In short track speed skating, skaters compete
against each other instead of against the clock introducing elements of
strategy, bravery and skill. Competing on a 112.2-meter oval ice rink, there are
4-6 skaters in a heat, with two skaters progressing to the next round until four
skaters remain for the final.
