About Us

Background on SISA

SISA is a non-profit National Sports Association (NSA) founded in 1988 and staffed by volunteers to serve the needs of Singapore's growing community of recreational and competitive ice skaters.  We are sanctioned by the Singapore Sports Council (SSC) and are also a member of the Singapore National Olympic Council, the International Skating Union (ISU) and the Asian Skating Union (ASU).

SISA's goal is to provide skaters in Singapore with the training conditions, coaching, judging and competitions needed to reach Olympic-calibre skating.  SISA aims to elevate the standard of skating in Singapore.  Singapore obtained membership in the ISU and ASU in 2008, debuting remarkably well.

Mission

To achieve state of the art administration of the sport of figure skating with particular emphasis on education in judging, coaching, management and promotion of the sport in the wider community.

Goals

  • An Olympic size ice rink in Singapore as the foundation of our plan to develop the county in the regional centre of excellence for figure skating is Asia.

  • To provide our skaters with the training conditions, coaching and judging needed to reach Olympic-calibre skating.  SISA aims to elevate the standard of skating in Singapore so that we can send Singaporeans to our first Winter Olympic Games and World Championships, with the ultimate goal of an Olympic medal for Singapore.

  • Our goal of membership in the International Skating Union (ISU) has been achieved thanks to CapitaLand's intention to build an Olympic size ice rink in Singapore.  We currently have provisional membership, that all going well will become full membership in March 2010.

  • To deliver quality recreational and sporting activity that is accessible to all while at the same time nurturing competitive skaters to be able to compete at the highest international levels.

  • To bring international competitions and develop marquee skating competitions and events for Singapore.
